1967 Nationals C/Gas Supercharged Trophy Run

April 1 2011 - The following series of photos show the actual trophy run in C/GS, (I never liked the newer designation) between the Cleveland Ohio based Hrudka Brothers Willys coupe driven by Sam Gellner and Rochester NY/Niagaras own Bill Lindner Jr in his Willys coupe. What is truly remarkable here, is the quality of these nearly 44 year old shots which were taken by the late Richard "Tinker" Long, one of Lindners crewmen.

The winner: Our own Bill Lindner Jr., with a 10.91 elapsed time at 129.12 miles per hour, vs. Sam Gellners 11.31 at 111.80. I was fortunate enough to BE THERE and witness this historic race.

Lastly, we have the crew triumphantly towing the Willys up the return road at IRP.
