I started going to Niagara in 68, when my friend George used to borrow his father's 67 Cougar XR7, we'd drive down Saturday, stay in some cheap motel
over night, then go to the races on Sunday. It was a blast. I still have a newspaper I got at the track from those old days, and surprisingly it's in
pretty good shape.

Frank:
Thanks for posting that info, as I haven't read that ND column in a couple of weeks. I'll email Phil Burgess and thank him for including Niagara.
PS: Phil is also a member of Standard1320.

Memories of Niagara for me means those wonderful "S U N D A Y.....N I A G A R A" ads heard on the radio beckoning all to come see the excitement.
Making it worse for me was the fact I lived on the Escarpment and could always hear the funnies and top fuel cars quite well as a preteen. When I got
big enough to go I saw many greats, Little Red Wagon, Blue Max, Garlits, Muhldowney, Wild Bill Shrewsbury's LA Dart just to mention a few. Great
Locals like Zakia, and Waddy always cause people to talk about hot cars and time slips. Never got to race there but I did take my 71 Torino for a run
long after the placed closed before it became over run with vegetation.
Jerry Hamman, the Shelby dealer lived 5 doors down from me and I remember those 2 beautiful GT500s he had, a yellow one he drove every day and a red
one I think may have been for his wife. I don't know him personally but I knew his daughters Kimmy and Michelle.
My Dad still lives there in that house. I would love to see that strip open back up. I would even help any way I could.
